Birch Tree Ceramic Vases : Wall Art

My strongest inspiration comes from Mother Nature and its magical beauty, harmony, strength and power. Ceramics is about tactility, beauty, and subjectivity. My goal in my ceramic sculpture is to call upon a past experience and imagination.

I grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia where the climate is very severe: cold and humid though the nature is beautiful. For hundreds of years, the birch tree has been one of the main symbols of Russia. They were glorified by my favorite great poet Sergei Yesenin. It is difficult to imagine a grove or forest, without this majestic white beauty. Birch trees have been a big inspiration for me.

I put many hours into developing the surface that reminds you of birch tree bark. The tree wall vase has slip applications and is high fired in an electric kiln. The tree trunk has intentional crevices and handmade cracks.

These sculptures are unique home décor and a display piece. They are one of my best sellers. The vases were designed to use as a group of two or three though you are welcome to purchase any quantity. The vases are functional and can be used for flowers.
