  • The source of my inspiration is nature – its magical beauty, harmony, strength and power. This  blue and brown ceramic weathered wabi sabi style vase has been built using a  sodium silicate method to create this beautiful cracked surface. After the skinny form was thrown on the wheel, I applied blue and white slip to a brown clay body. When the slip dried enough, sodium silicate was painted on the outside and then heated very quickly with a heat gun. I expanded the form from the inside out while spinning the wheel. As a result the outside surface strted showing many organic cracks.  The vase was glazed inside and high fired.
