Magnolia Flower Life Cycle Wall Sculpture

Description

My strongest inspiration comes from Mother Nature and its magical beauty, harmony, strength and power. Being in contact with nature is of utmost importance to me. I constantly notice new natural forms and transform them into my work. I find interesting textures like branches, leaves, and flowers and replicate them in ceramics.

I have been admiring the transformation of striking magnolia flower bud to flowers in full bloom and later on into a large pod with a beautiful texture. These two magnolia flower wall sculptures are replicas of the magnolia flower life cycle.

These wall hangings were hand-built from black and white clay slabs, then shaped and textured. Terra sigillata slip was brushed on the flower multiple times and then burnished. The wall hangings were high fired in electric kiln.

The wall sculptures are a unique home décor and display piece. Adhesive ceramic plate hangers are securely attached to the sculpture.
