After raku firing and smoking, the surface was scraped off from the slip exposing beautiful black lines created by smoke.  The shiny smooth surface laminates green and bronze pearl colors created by various mineral applications.

Raku Sculpture | Underwater Decayed Life

    $160.00

This raku sculpture is one of my new underwater life forms. I gather some of my inspiration from underwater creatures and life forms. It reflects my relationship with natural forms.

The raku ceramic decayed underwater life sculpture is loosely based on the form of the sea turtle skeleton. It does not attempt to be an exact replica. The contrast between the white crackled outside surface and matte-crusted hand-carved highly textured inside cavities emphasizes the organic nature of the piece. The design captures the natural fluidity and movement.

This shell is 8” long and 5″ wide.
