Description
This ceramic vase was inspired by the underwater world. There are an amazing variety of sea sponges with holes or pores known as ostia living on the ocean or sea floor. They filter the water by breathing in and out of these pores and take in any bacteria, plankton that would serve as food, and oxygen through the neatly divided canals.Â
I gave this ceramic piece my own interpretation. The organic design of this sculpture captures natural fluid movement and evokes the sense of harmony. The natural brushwork retains the elegant seashore quality of nature’s work. The subtle contrast between pink sponges and textured sand color of the main body adds a rustic organic feel.Â
