Thirsty Earth Vase

Description

The source of my inspiration is Mother Nature – its magical beauty, harmony, strength and power. Ceramics is about tactility, beauty, and subjectivity. My goal in my ceramic sculpture is to call upon a past experience and imagination.

I have developed this beautiful organic surface after experimenting for a while. The flat top was covered with a thin coat of sodium silicate. The surface dried very quickly with a heat gun and stretched in a dome shape creating beautiful spontaneous small and large cracks.

The vase is glazed inside though it is not easy to pour water inside the small opening therefore I suggest you add dry grass or a flower. This sculptural vase has such a unique surface, it will stand out on its own as a table décor piece.

The stone vase is 5” in diameter.
