Zen Beach Stone Ceramic Vases

These stone vases are my best sellers! The source of my inspiration is Mother Nature – its magical beauty, harmony, strength and power. Ceramics are about tactility, beauty, and subjectivity. My goal in my ceramic sculpture is to call upon experience or emotion.

My weekend walks on Encinitas Moonlight Beach inspired me to do this body of work. These Zen-looking rustic vases remind you of California beach stones. They would be a unique gift and/or a gorgeous addition to your home decor or garden.

I have developed a finishing technique after experimenting for a long time trying to achieve the desired surface. These stoneware vases are hand-built and shaped as beach stones. While still in a wet stage, they were rolled in fine crumbs of dry clay of different colors. Then various slips and under glazes were layered on top of the leather hard clay.

The vases are not glazed inside therefore if you try to pour water it might slowly sip through. I won’t suggest using vases for real flowers unless the vase is in the garden, on the porch or on a stone surface of a kitchen cabinet. The vases look beautiful as a group.

Vase sizes vary from: 4” to 5″ across.
